Brush and Floss Regularly

It goes without a saying that it is important that you brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss once. Don’t miss out on brushing and flossing, regardless of how busy you are. These two habits ensure your teeth are free of any food residue, which can lead to plaque, which causes bad breath.

Clean Your Tongue

Sometimes, the bacteria which cause bad breath aren’t residing on your teeth and gums. They are on your tongue and if you don’t clean your tongue regularly, they can take effect. So, use a proper tongue cleaner and clean your tongue every time you brush. Make it a point to clean all the way back to your gag reflex so you can get rid of all the mucous and bugs.

Visit the Dentist

As a rule of thumb, visiting the dentist twice a year, at least, is a good idea. Your dentist will be able to uncover hidden causes of bad breath which you might not notice. Bad breath can be caused by cavities, and even root absorptions, something only they can treat.

Drink More Water, Less Alcohol

Alcohol and beer can give you stinky breath. So, it is best that you abstain from drinking too much alcohol. At the same time, drink more water. Dryness of the mouth can cause bad breath, and so can halitosis. Drinking more water will also prevent acid reflux. Increasing water intake is especially important for people who are taking medication can cause dry mouth.
